Nuorten psykoottisen depression hoidossa masennuslääkehoitoon saattaa olla hyödyksi yhdistää psykoosilääke, vaikka riittävä tutkimusnäyttö puuttuu.
Yksi pieni tutkimus «Geller B, Cooper TB, Farooki ZQ ym. Dose and plasma levels of nortriptyline and chlorpromazine in delusionally depressed adolescents and of nortriptyline in nondelusionally depressed adolescents. Am J»1, jossa tutkittiin ensisijaisesti lääkkeiden plasmapitoisuuksia nuorten psykoottisessa depressiossa, viittaa masennus- ja psykoosilääkkeen yhdistämisen hyödyllisyyteen.

- Kommentti: Hyvää tutkimusnäyttöä masennus- ja psykoosilääkkeen yhdistämisestä nuorten psykoottisessa depressiossa ei ole. Yleisimmin käytettyjä toisen polven psykoosi- ja masennuslääkkeen yhdistelmiä ei nuorten psykoottisessa depressiossa ole tutkittu.
