Milk introduction before the age of 6 months and the risk of milk allergy

Milk introduction before 6 months of age may have little or no effect on the risk of milk allergy, but the evidence is very uncertain.
Due to low evidence certainty, it is difficult to estimate potential absolute benefits from early milk introduction. In a systematic review of early food introduction, half of the trials compared cow's milk formulas to milk-free formulas. By excluding the formula trials, pooled event rates were 6/1575 in the intervention group and 13/1602 in the control group, suggesting a small benefit, but event rates are very small «Scarpone R, Kimkool P, Ierodiakonou D, ym.
